I'm a passionate IT person, I love to code, and professionally I lead projects and programmes. And one topic follows me almost everywhere: risk management.
For me, risk management is one of the most important disciplines in project management. Spotting risks early, assessing them correctly and keeping an eye on them can decide whether a project succeeds or is later caught off guard by problems.
But in practice I kept experiencing the same thing.
In many projects, risks are managed with Excel, Confluence or home-made templates. Of course that works somehow. But creating a new risk, describing it cleanly, assessing probability and impact, recording measures and then keeping everything up to date quickly becomes tedious.
And honestly: it's just no fun.
So at some point I set out to look for an app that makes risk management easier. I didn't want an overloaded enterprise system, nor a complicated platform that requires training first.
I wanted a tool that does exactly what I need in day-to-day project work:
Capture risks easily. Assess them. Manage them. And keep the overview.
I searched – but found nothing that truly matched what I had in mind.
So I did something that, as an IT person, felt pretty natural to me:
I built it myself.
And because I love Apple devices, I built it for iPhone, iPad and Mac.
That's how this app came about. Not as a theoretical product on the drawing board, but out of my own daily work with projects and programmes. From the very beginning, my goal was to make risk management as simple and pleasant as possible.
And because I work in an international environment myself and speak three languages, it was quickly clear to me: the app should be trilingual too.
That leaves the question of price.
During my time as an IT person and developer, I have repeatedly benefited from free software and freeware myself. People made their work available and thereby helped me solve problems, learn things and realize my own ideas.
I'd like to give something back. That's why the app is free.
If it helps you manage the risks in your projects more easily, get an overview faster, or simply saves you a bit of work with Excel and spreadsheets, then it has achieved exactly what I built it for.
From a project manager for project managers – born out of a real problem in everyday project work.
